The LUMIX S5 provides exceptional photo and video performance to the quality conscious content creator. Its flip-out screen is combined with a smaller, lighter body that has been designed with urban adventures in mind.
Full Frame 24.2MP CMOS Sensor with Dual Native ISO Technology
The CMOS Sensor has been optimised to deliver exceptional image quality for both stills and videos, while the Dual Native ISO provides a greater level of flexibility when shooting in lower light conditions without the usual increase in visible noise when shooting video.
Versatile Recording Modes
The video versatility of the S5 was carefully considered to ensure compatibility with the existing S-Series line-up. 4K 60p/50p and Full HD up to 180fps is available for shooting fast motion, while 4K 30p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit video can be output via HDMI for maximum post-production versatility.
4:2:2 10-bit Internal Recording / HDMI Output
Record up to 4K/30p 4:2:2 10bit interbally with the Dual SDXC memory card slots, or utilise HDMI Output to record video at a maximum quality of 4K/60p 4:2:2 10-bit.
V-log / V-Gamut with 14+ Stops of Dynamic Range
The S5 features V-Log / V-Gamut with a wider 14+ stops of dynamic range. This is compatible with the Cinema VariCam Look and precisely captures everything from shadows to highlights, as well as faithfully reproducing the color and texture subtleties of human skin. The V-Log View Assist enables you to view a simulation of the final look (hue, saturation and brightness) of your video image in camera using the Look Up Table (LUT) while you are shooting. With Look Up Table (LUT) installed on the camera, the video you record with V-Log can be modified to match the characteristics of your monitor display. The VariCam IDT for ACES can also be applied to footage shot on the S5. 35 conversion LUTs and ar tistic looks for VariCam® cinema cameras and the AU-EVA1 can be downloaded from Panasonic's official web site.
Anamorphic Recording
If you are shooting with an anamorphic lens that compresses the image width to an almost unrecognizable extreme, the S5 camera allows you to view a simulation of the final ‘desqueezed’ CinemaScope format (2.39:1 or 2.35:1), in one of five magnification options, 1.3x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.8x or 2.0x, stretched out on the camera monitor. This lets you decide the composition you want, and better visualize the impact of the final project.
5-Axis, Dual I.S 2 Image Stabilisation
The combination of a 5-axis Image Stabiliser in the camera body and Optical Image Stabilisation in compatible lenses results in an impressive 6.5 stops worth of correction. The result is sharperr images, and smoother video, even when using a slow shutter speed.
